Who is StraightAhead?
Updated: Apr 28
StraightAhead is a student-led initiative dedicated to supporting teen mental health through creativity, connection, and community. Our goal is to create a safe and expressive space where young people feel seen, heard, and understood!
Whether that be through writing, art, or simple acts of kindness like sharing encouraging messages. By combining storytelling, creative projects, and peer support, we aim to remind teens that they are not alone in what they are experiencing.
Based in Kyrgyzstan, connected with global, youth-led communities our work extends beyond one location. We hope to engage new volunteers through blog writing, card-making initiatives, and awareness campaigns designed to reach teens both online and in real life. These efforts allow us to provide small but meaningful forms of support to individuals who may be struggling silently.
According to the World Health Organization, one in seven adolescents worldwide experiences a mental health condition, yet many do not receive the support they need. This highlights the importance of creating accessible, peer-driven spaces where conversations around mental health are normalized and encouraged.
As we continue to grow, we hope to expand our reach and deepen our impact,
connecting with organizations, schools, and communities to share resources and support. Our vision is to build a space that is inclusive, creative, and driven by empathy, where every contribution, no matter how small, has the potential to make someone feel less alone. In global collective effort, we aim to turn awareness into action and create something that genuinely supports the well-being of young people everywhere.
